Michelle was shocked after an annual mammogram came back abnormal and she was diagnosed with breast cancer. “Since that day I have been in survival mode, not only for my physical health, but for my financial responsibilities and mental health as well,” explained Michelle.
The Winston-Salem resident worked as a contract interpreter, but she stopped working as she went through treatment and focused on beating this deadly disease. At that time, Michelle’s sister was helping her cover half of her living costs, however that wasn’t enough. She reached out to Pretty In Pink for help with her medical bills. “Dealing with cancer drains you physically, emotionally, mentally and financially,” said Michelle. “It’s difficult, or at times impossible to work. However, the bills continue to come. With Pretty In Pink helping financially, it eases the stress of financial concerns facing cancer patients– and one thing a cancer patient needs to avoid is stress.”
Now, Michelle is a breast cancer survivor! “I am grateful for the financial assistance! I thank Pretty In Pink Foundation and all who have contributed from the bottom of my heart!”
